my sco unix release 5 gives me error on boot up
this server happens to be database server
how do i solve this error on boot
message comes like as hd(40) unixHeader read error : -1

I can't find any info on 'unixHeader' on the Caldera (SCO) knowledgebase.

How about giving us the EXACT error message(s). Write them down as they scroll by.

Use Ctrl-S to stop the scrolling if needed.

never have seen the error but would suggest the following:
at boot use unix.old
or
boot from EBD , mount the hard drive and copy unix from floppy to hard drive mount point
alternate location for unix.old is in /safe if I remember correctly. The unix from the floppy will be the better choice if it is up to date. Ed Fair
