Hello Out there, We run SCO Unix at work but the training is non-existent so I have decided to set up my own unix server at home. Ihave tried installing Unix on my home PC which has a AMD chip. This failed.

I have now got the Sco compatibility list. All the stuff they certify seems to be expensive servers costing hundreds op pounds. Is there anyone out there successfully running Sco Unixware 7 on a non Sco certified computer.

If so please let me know the model. Any other help welcome. Thanks in advance

Not an answer to your question, but I'm running SCO Xenix, Unix3.2v4.0, 3.2v4.2, Openserver 3.2v5.2,5.4,and 5.5 on nothing but non-certified equipment.
I've installed the stuff on probably 10 different M/Bs, using 6 to 8 different scsi controllers, the range of video that is available.
You will find as you investigate that the compatibility list is a fiction. It is a list of equipment that the manufacturers certify to SCO and SCO publishes.

The two variables that I've not tried are AMD and Unix 7. One from the lack of time, and the other for lack of serial number and activation key. I have AMD stuffed FIC M/B that I could try and I have unixware7 media kit but no way to install it since the ebay user misrepresented what he was selling.

My feeling is that 1) Maybe Intel will be the solution or 2) You've overlooked something. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.

Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

Hi ED, Thanks for your input. By the way you can get activation keys free from Sco as long as you dont use the machine for commercial purposes.
