my Server diskspace had grown quite big after a year. Not sure what causes this. temp; tmp; var/spool/log/lp and system log have been clear. but I didn'nt gain much free space
Current disk space:

/ : Disk space: 865.88 MB of 8031.99 MB available (10.78%).
/stand : Disk space: 32.96 MB of 39.99 MB available (82.41%).
/u : Disk space: 48209.52 MB of 59989.32 MB available (80.36%).

A year ago:

# dfspace
/ : Disk space: 5518.41 MB of 8031.99 MB available (68.71%).
/stand : Disk space: 33.11 MB of 39.99 MB available (82.79%).
/u : Disk space: 47547.81 MB of 59989.32 MB available (79.26%).

I shamelessly plug my dispus perl script to help you identify the culprits. I haven't tried it on SCO for a while; hope it still works...

Some thing is seriously wrong here. All my search for files and folder doesn't add up. I have about 3 Gigs or more is not accounted for.

any pointer really appreciated.

The two most likely reasons for that are:

- some files have been created under a mount point, and then a filesystem has been mounted over the top of it. To fix this you would need to unmount the other filesystems temporarily and check whether there are any files there.

- a process has created one or multiple large output files which have been deleted, but the process is still running. The space used by open files is not released until the process ends, even if they have been removed. On some platforms the lsof utility will list "(deleted)" files that are open, I'm not sure whether SCO is one of them. I don't think lsof is likely to be on your system unless you have installed it.

You can probably empty the mbox by just flattening it, i.e. type > /mbox. I'm not familiar with the mbox format though, so you might want to back it up first in case.

You are absolutely right! I found it! the u1 is my mount point for other drive. Thanks to you I will be recovered the 5.4 Gigs worth of space :)

Thanks for everything

1. 5,764,753 KB u1
2. 1,154,326 KB opt
3. 298,778 KB usr
4. 44,806 KB var
