sco openserver 5.0.5 install problem signal 8 error msg

I'm trying to load 5.0.5 on a desktop white box w ith a 30 gig western digital IDE hard drive( just installed, the old one just died).The install progress's through the bad track routine, dispalys the msg "extracting data" then it displays "signal 8 " and says press any key to continue, which starts the process over again. i've tried 3 times and have gotten the same result.

I'm loading from a cd rom.

Does anyone know what a "signal 8" error msg pertains to?

when you start the installation type in the following string

defbootstr nbuf=100

the problem is in memory usage.
