I really need some help please.
I changed a failed tape drive on a SCO server, replaced it with an exact replacment on the exact SCSI ID.
It wont work. I have done the following
sconf -v
*to check what the scsi bus says the drive is on*
mkdev tape
*removed the old tape drive and added the new one with the correct settings
Stp cha 1 0 2 0
relinked and rebooted the server*

If I type tape -s status /dev/rStp0 the server just hangs.

I am at a loss.

Tape drive is a HP 12/24

Any Help would be very appreciated thank you.

If the new tapes drive was an exact replacement, why did you removed and added it again? if it is an exact replacement, just setting up the device number to be the same of the old tape drive would have work.

When you reboot the system do you see the tape drive in the devices listing? You can also check under /usr/adm/messages and go to the end of the file to see if it is recognizing the new tape drive.

Hope this help

Joe
