We have a customer that is using a Dell Poweredge 1600sc running Sco Openserver 5.0.6 using a USR modem 5686e . We can dial in no problem and send data till the cows come home but when we try to pull data back it looks like it is pulling OK and at different points we get this error "The file transfer is active, but sector XX was received twice. The duplicate sector has been discarded." and it stops transferring data. We have tried 2 init strings: ats0=002&a0&k0&m0&d0&h1&i1&n6&w0&w1 and at&f&k0&m0&a0&n6&u6&w. We have slowed our modem speeds down and remove error correction and data compression with no luck anyone have any ideas?

If you are able to connect successfully, most likely the problem is not related to your modem settings. The problem is more likely related to your communications software. What software and protocol are you using for transferring the data?

Thanks for responding. We can connect, we just can not download files from their server to our server. We can Put anything we want, it just fails when we try to do a get.

Just in case this helps: We had similar problems with file transfers when the modem was attached to a DigiBoard device. We solved this by disabling the "fastcook" option using ditty. i.e.:
# ditty -fastcook

What type of serial port is in use? Are you trying to do this on a standard COM1/COM2 port?

Which brings me back to my original question. What software and protocol are you using for transferring the data?
