My system runs fine on the current Pentium 4 computer where it now resides.

I recently retired an XP box with an Intel 965 MB which I thought would have a bit more grunt than the current box. After moving the Seagate hdd and 2940u2 scsi card to the 965 box, it won't boot; i.e., I don't get to the "boot:" prompt.

Now, the computer seems to recognize the adaptec card as well as the Seagate drive. The boot agent is trying, but at some point it times out and reports there is no bootable device or can't find file. There are no other drives in the computer.

In the bios, there is something about sata as IDE or AHC(I think). There was another choice. and I forget the title where the choices were NATIVE or LEGACY. Needless to say, I have tried all the permutations with no success. In the past, I have similarly moved the SCO drive to a different computer without issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

best advice at this point in time is to install that OS on a VM - less hassle with hardware compatibility and more choice of machines - and better performance.

And its free
