I have set up my SCN and can call between sites.
But my SCN discovery isn't working.

I can ping from SSA to both siteson each site to each other
I Can't ping the main site using CMD from windows environment.

I can ping my voicemail server and log on to it ok from the remote site.

I know it's probably a network issue but need some pointers on what to look for and tell the IT people.

what do you mean by "SCN discovery"?

If you can call between sites then the SCN must be up

That said SCN issues are ALWAYS a network issue, tel the IT people thy are not blocking some of the necessary ports & they should not have a firewall running between sites.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Solved:

Yes they have now got it working.
i can ping the other site now.
No Idea what they did

SCN discovery is in IPO Manager -Preferences -Discovery- SCN Discovery
this allows you to see all the sites on the login page of Manager

Turns out that i have to manually input the main site ip address into-IP Search Criteria
Once i did that the other site could be accessed.
SCN Discovery now working

Of course you do, the system can't scan every possible subnet that could possibly be connected to the local LAN in some way, it would take hours and hours, you have to give it somewhere to look :)

Hi snowman, I understand what you were looking for now.

Amriddle: The system can & does scan every address on the local Lan using a broadcast address ;-)

What it cannot do is broadcast across routers to the remote site, which is why SCN discovery requires the addresses of all site in the SCN. It also needs those addresses to be routeable

i can ping the other site now.
No Idea what they did.

My guess is they fixed the routing tables :)

Amriddle: The system can & does scan every address on the local Lan using a broadcast address winky smile

That's not what I said though, I said it can't scan every subnet that could possibly be connected to the local LAN, quite a difference :)

Yes thats what i thought but it took a while for the old grey Matter to kick in.
"then it dawned on me that it cant see across the routers."

But thankyou for the help
