I recently installed a new IPO500 that I wanted to add to my exsisting SCN. My vendor sent me the disk for 5.0 and I didn't think anything of it. I completed the install Thursday and was doing some tweaking all day yesterday to user specifications. Well I noticed that I could not call the other offices as planned. I was told by my Vendor that I can't use a 5.0 machine with 4.2.(17) machines. Now here is my issue... I can upgade the other offices but by the time I travel to each office to do the upgrades I will have a few days of lost connectivity and I find it hard to believe that Avaya would force this type of upgrade that causes lost connectivity.

So I'm thinking of backing the one system down to 4.2.(17) and wanted to know if others agree or if you might have a better idea. I did a downgrade once and I'm a little hazy on the process so if you agree with the down grade and can point me to a GA that describes the process that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

Avaya supports 1 major release away. so yes 4.2 and 5.0 should work together. I generally try not to do it but it should still work. you will only get the features of the lowest system. in you system status does it show the trunk up and have the SCN as up? You dont need short codes for call routing with SCN and they may cause the other system to not be dialable .

You have a good vendor :) (NOT)
When you can not call another site then you need to look where the problem is and not just downgrade a system because then it will not work eighter !!!

I have the licenses (VCM and Voice Networking) MY vendor sold me a Advanced networking license which shows up as obsolete. I have set up the IP line. I point the centralized voicemail. I think I covered everything but when I try to dial another office I'm denied. I have compared settings on a few of my IPO500's and just can't find what I'm missing.

I don't know why "no stars", I never thought about it, All the advice I get on here is top notch in my book so far everyone I ever got advice from deserves them. Do the Stars mean that much to people?

Wlamo, advanced networking is default with 5.0, not an option anymore sobyou bought an expensive that is already enabled
it changed so I guess you better find a better vendor !
Do you have an iproute to the gateway that routes to the main site ?
Do you have an ipline on the main site to the new site ?

If SSA shows the trunk and SCN up then I suppose that you should post sysmon traps.

Stars are a way to say that as a professional you appreciate the help. I suppose that if you haven't noticed the link to give out a star then you haven't noticed the mvp leader list either. One star given is one star gained on the leader list.

SSA shows that the SCN is not enabled. I noticed that the documents say that I must have a IP500 Voice Networking license, I have did order Voice Networking but is there a difference from Voice Netwotking and IP500 Voice Networking?

Never mind my last post... I just looked at Licenses in SSA and it says IP500 Voice Networking Channels 4.

When I set up my IP line on the IP500 do I need to select under supplementary Services IP Office SCN or H450 which is what all my pre 5.0 systems are?

you want IP Office SCN. that puts all the SCN features on. the older systems it was voice networking.
