This will be the third time around in trying to prepare for this darn exam. Something always comes up schedule-wise that conflicts with studying and/or writing the exam.

I was about a week away from being ready to write the exam in December. Now we have v1.4.0 upon us.

Are there any major changes to the exam since the 1.4.0 release?

I already have some good online tutorials and study guides I will be going through (again), but can you guys make some recommendations on some (wanting to fill all the gaps here)?

Thanks!

From what I read on java.sun.com the exam hasn't changed since October 2001. The exam is still based on Java 2 because it covers mostly basic stuff.

Each newer version applies to the more advance stuff in java. The only times that the newer versions may have an impact on the Java Exams are the developer track and architect track.

The Java Programmer exam is currently undergoing revision since J2SE 1.4 came out. The Beta testing for this exams ends on May 24th, 2002. The objectives are basically the same except they have dropped AWT (how many people still use this anyways?) and IO from the exam.

I would say that the new version of the exam will not be available for at least another few months after the beta period.

THANK YOU. Wow, that's good to know.... I was dreading having to study AWT just to pass that exam! (I'm relieved, now I can study stuff I might actually use in real life!)
