Have a customer that I just installed an ACS R6 along with 2-012E cards. It is a motel that the customer suplied phones for. The phones they have are half telematrix and the others are scitec aegis-p. The telematrix phones ring no problems but the scitec's do not. They have a data port on side and if I plug my test set in port rings my test set. I plugged phones directly into co phones rang no problems. I changed the distinctive ring with no results. FYI phones were removed from a working environment Mitel SX-50. Thanks in advance!

I'm not familiar with the Aegis phone, but something tells me that it's putting some kind of load on the second pair. This could easily fool the Partner ACS into thinking that the connected phone is a traditional two-pair Partner ETR (enhanced tip/ring).

Try using a single pair mounting cord between the SciTec Aegis phones and the Partner.

If that fails, flip the tip and ring (in case there's a reversal) and see if that works. There are a few weird phones out there that STILL care about polarity.

Last but not least, realize that Partner ports typically only put out -24V ringing current. This is ok for Partner phones and modern electronic single line phones, but it may not be enough for these Aegis phones. It's certainly not enough for many older telephones or external alert devices.

And please write back. I'd be interested to know what the results were.

I doubt that the data pair comes into play here, I even doubt that a motel room has been wired with 2 pairs all the way from the jack to the backboard.

It's an incompatability with the ringer and the Partner's ringing voltage and waveform.

That's risk your customer runs when deciding to try and reuse their phones. Better in the long run to replace them with Avaya S/L sets with MW lites and data ports.

i would drop the second pair out at the ext port at the system, then a 2 pr line cord should work fine.
