If anyone has had some positive experiences with cert classes in the Chicago area, I'd really appreciate hearing which schools or training firms you used. If you've heard good things from reliable sources, that'd be great info also. I'm looking for classes that have a lot of hands-on. If they take a little more time or cost a little more, that's okay. I don't want to get ripped off, but I'm willing to pay for something better.

Someone has already recommended MicroTrain. Anyone else take classes with them?

I'm just starting out with certs, so I'll probably start with A+ then move on to MCSA.

Thanks!!

wuneyej,

I'm not in the Chicago area, but you can learn the material well enough using the books to get your MCSA.

I suggest taking both the A+ and Network+ first, as these count towards your elective and are very easy exams. You'll need to contact CompTIA to have your transcripts transfered to Microsoft, and this does take a while, so do these first.

70-270 was also remarkably easy, and with that you'll be 50% of the way there. 70-290 and 70-291 were a little more difficult, but after passing these you'll have your MCSA 2003.
