School texting device

Hi all, a bit of the subject , but can anyone point me in the right direction for a school i look after, they are wanting a device that will text all pupils parents/guardians if an announcement is to be made ect. ?They want it so that you just have a one button press to send out to all 600 pupils parents/carers. Can this be done and what sort of kit would they need, regards P

pretty sure you can do SMS over e-mail. this is hardly the thread for that though. i would check on the microsoft exchange forum. that is, if you are using exchange.

Their are service providers for this sort of thing. Google emergency notification systems or mass emergency notification systems to find the right one for your school.

These come in several flavors, text, email, cell phone calls from announcements, wall boards.

If you know everyone's carrier, you can build a list of SMS e-mail addresses.

I'd be careful though. A lot of people have to pay for incoming texts. I would make that sort of thing opt-in at a minimum.

this is what my sons school system uses. not sure of the admin or user interface on it. they use it for school closings or other emergency type announcements.
