I am testing a scheduling of a report to SMTP and I keep getting a

"There was an error saving data to the server: Sorry, you do not have the right to 'Schedule to destinations' (id - 62) for 'Monthly Revenue Analysis Report' (id - 8771). Please contact your system or permissions administrator if you require this right. "

error. I am logged in as Administrator and the only group that the Administrator belongs to is Administrators and everywhere I look the Rights are set at Full Control. Any idea why I keep getting this error message?

It may be that you have not properly configured the CE server to allow for SMTP.

Use the CMC->Servers->Job Server->Destinations

I was just attempting a test and was hoping that it would at least allow me to schedule and give a 'failed' error message after scheduling. So it doesn't necessarily mean that I don't have the security to schedule to destinations, it may mean that SMTP is not configured correctly? That makes more sense to me...

Thanks,

Synapsevampire,
Can you help me out a bit. Within the form in the CMC->Servers->Job Server->Destinations there is a text box for SMTP username and password. If we are using Microsoft Exchange, is this a domain username on the Exchange server? We are still getting the error mentioned above and I think it is because we are not using a valid SMTP username and password. I'm getting really frustrated that this is taking this long to test. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Regards,
Bessebo

Check with your Exchange folks to determine if they have SMTP set up, what the server name is, and what addresses have SMTP enabled.

Unfortunately we have Lotus at this contract (yuck!!!), so I can't really check much for you.

That is what they are doing currently. I heard from someone else that if I leave the Authentication as None then i can leave the SMTP user and password blank. Is it possible scheduling from Administrator with Full Control that I could actually be getting a valid error:

"There was an error saving data to the server: Sorry, you do not have the right to 'Schedule to destinations' (id - 62) for 'Monthly Revenue Analysis Report' (id - 8771). Please contact your system or permissions administrator if you require this right. "

I'm starting to think that for some reason the right to schedule to destinations has been explicitly denied. You did say earlier that even though I get the above error message that it is probably because SMTP is not properly configured. It's just hard convincing my network guy of that though.

Hi Bessebo,
In the CR manual section "How to configure CE to use SMTP", it shows how to determine if SMTP is configured correctly.
From a command prompt, type

helo hi <enter>
mail from: email_address<enter>
rcpt to: email_address<enter>
data<enter>
This is a test<enter>
.<enter>
quit<enter>

replace the above email_address with valid to and from emails. If everything is configured correctly, you will get an email from this.

What happens if you get scared half to death twice?

Bob

I'm not sure.

I was sayinjg that error messages aren't always clear.

If you're using the admin account and emailing a report, nothing should be preventing this account from emailing .
unless you'ver altered the settings.
