Scheduling and Automating reporting

Hello,

Is it possible to automate the reporting by NOT using Crystal/Business Object automation tools Like Crystal Reports Server or Business Object Enterprise?
Basically, I would like to create report using a Crystal (ver. 9.0) and have it scheduled and distributed in e.g. pdf format automatically.
I would access info sitting on Oracle 9.0

I,ve been using the Report Scheduler Pro 9.0 . Will auto route reports to printers and will auto email reports. Will send them in several formats including pdf. Have had a few minor problems where the reports did not print or email but could be related to server problems. There is very little documentation with this product but it is not very complicated.

What I was looking for is a solution that would not require introducing a new technology into my environment. I was thinking to communicate with Crystal via API and have an e.g. scheduled script to activate Crystal, create a report and store it for later distribution.
Has anyone have any experience with this sort of solution?
Any pointers are very appreciated.

this software will let you schedule and distribute your report in a number of ways including pdf or email.

Only needs a local install on the machine scheduling the reports. Ask Ido for a trial he frequents these boards regularly.

Hi Robert,

Yes, you can create your own solution if you purchase a Crystal Developer license. With that license, you can include the Crystal runtime components in your own application.

I use the RDC object model but the Crystal development team at Business Objects is attempting to steer developers towards the .net approach. You can download sample code for either approach from the Business Objects web site.
