Hello All,
I am trying to figure out a way to schedule a recurring report to run the last day of every quarter (regular calendar year, nothing fancy). My problem is that if I scheduled the report to first run on Sep 30th my only option is to run it every 3 months. What then happens is that the report runs again on December 30th, not the 31st. I cannot see any way to get the report to run always on the last day of the quarter. Am I missing something?

Regards,

Hi,
You can, in the CMC, define a Calendar and select the appropriate dates on that for scheduling..

See the Help files or the Docs on Calendar creation/usage..

(I know this is in V10, not sure about earlier - It is not in 8.5)

We are using version 9 so it looks like I cannot do it unless we upgrade.

I don't understand your question. Yes, it is only 4 dates/year but we run one report for many, many different customers (there is a parameter) and email to certain people depending on the customer. So, if we have to re-create every time it tries to run to the 30th of the month rather than the 31st, then it is a long arduous effort.

Hi,
You can create 4 separate scheduled runs and set the date for each to run once....You know the quarter end date even if Crystal doesn't.
That way you only have to change them once per year.

I was suggesting 4 fixed-date schedules, not recurring. Obviously, it's four times as much work per report, times the number of years. But if there aren't a lot of reports, does the extra effort justify doing the upgrade - all else being equal?

What happens if you schedule for March 31 or December 31, every 3 months? What does the scheduler do with June and September? If it picks up the 30th, you'll have a permanent recurring schedule. You would have to schedule the first Sept 30 for Once, of course.

(Then, I wonder what the scheduler would do with the December following the auto-scheduled Sept 30. If it defaulted from March 31 to June 30 to Sept 30, would it "remember" to use Dec 31?)

I am not sure what would happen if we start the scheduling process on March 31st. Next time it probably is June 30th, then Sep 30th, but after that it is probably December 30th. I think I have already seen this. There are at least 40 individual reports that I would have to create 4 times, so 160 reports. BUT I wouldn't have to re-create them each year because I could set them up to run monthly but to run every 12 months so I would only have to set them up once but still it is 160 reports to set up.

You could use the APOS InfoScheduler tool for CE-9, to Manage four "batches" of reports each year (eg. March 31st, June 30th, Sep 30th, Dec 31st).

In CE-10 you can use the CUSTOM CALENDAR function....
