Hi,
I have created a DTS package, that does some processing and then calls an application (.exe) file. When the application has completed the DTS carries out some more processing.

My problem is:
The DTS can be executed with no problems, but when the DTS is scheduled as a job, the .exe file keeps hanging.
I've noticed that it also hangs when I try running it using "xp_cmdshell".

This isn't a problem on any other server, and I have no idea why it is different on this one particular server.
Any help would be appreciated.

I just finished up a few minutes ago handling a similar problem; only in my case, the EXE simply wouldn't run, rather than being hung up.

It turned out to be a rights issue with SQLAgentCmdExec. This may be your case as well, since it works if you run it, but not when it is scheduled. Robert Bradley
