Scheduler Randomly Running Reports

I have a series of reports for each of our divisions I have setup tasks using Scheduler to run the reports and save them as PDF files in a separate directory. Each divisions reports run at different times during the day on Fridays. The following occurred this week:

Division 1 reports - 5 reports set to run at 12pm. The first 3 reports ran fine; the 4th report generated but did not save as PDF; the 5th report opened but presented no data and did not save as a PDF file

Division 2 reports - 5 reports - I have these spaced out in 1 minutes intervals beginning at 3pm to see if that is the issue(each report takes only a few seconds to generate). The results were the same as division 1

Division 3 reports - 5 reports set to run at 4pm. All reports ran, data appeared, but no reports saved as PDF files

Division 4 reports - 5 reports set to run at 4:15 pm. Same results as division 3

Division 5 reports - 3 reports set to begin at 5pm in spaced in 1 minute intervals. The first report did not run at all. The next 2 ran and saved successfully

Division 6 reports - 3 reports set to begin at 5:03pm spaced in 1 minute intervals. All reports ran and saved successfully

After all reports completed (or not) for the day I closed the Scheduler program and received the an error message which read "Run-time error '6148' Invalid Row Number"

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

On the Run-time error, I get that frequently when closing a scheduler session that was started automatically (rather than manually). Since it appears to be a Visual Basic error message and it doesn't corrupt the database or prevent subsequent sessions, I'm not bothered.
As to your Scheduler issues, I assume that the reports created overwrite prior versions. If so, how likely is it that another user was accessing a prior version and therefore preventing overwrite? Alternatively, do you have anti-virus that may be kicking-in to prevent proper operation?

Yes, I am overwriting prior versions of the reports, but I do not believe another user is accessing the prior version. In testing that theory I would receive an Impromptu error which states the report is locked by another user or program. I have not received this type of error message while processing my reports in scehduler.

I will need to check on the anti-virus software. Have you seen this type of issue before; with anti-virus software interfering with the scheduler?

Did this error message appear when you had the pdf open when the impromptu report was being run in Scheduler?

I find it's preferable to run all Cognos jobs within macros called from Scheduler - one has greater flexibility and better error trapping.

On the AV topic, I found that some Transformer builds were being blocked by the corporate AV system, which took exception to large files being generated in temp areas. Since not every cube was affected, the cause was not immediately apparent. Exclusion of the build areas and the Cognos file types solved the issue.

Yes, the error message appeared when I had the PDF file open while scheduler was generating the new report.

Is it common for users to use macros called from scheduler to generate reports? I am not familiar with using macors, but it sounds as if I need to read up on their use

Thanks

If you didn't get the error message when you were expecting the reports to run, that would suggest that contemporaneous access by another user is not the issue.
I can't speak for other users, but macros work for me. There's plenty of documentation in the standard install.
I'd look into AV action.
