I want to use the Scheduler to open an Impromptu report and save it as a pdf file. No problem - I can do that.
However is there any way that the scheduler itself or some flag can be set to close the Impromptu session when it has run? Or is the only way round this to write a macro for each task?

Are you running impromptu as a single instance or is it set to allow multiple instances of impromptu to open at once ?

If I remember rightly if Single instance mode is used the active window will be closed once the scheduled task is complete.

You can use

"C:\Program Files\Cognos\cer2\bin\impadmin.exe" /si to switch to single insatnce mode (use /mi) for multiple instance.

Thanks Gary - I've set as single instance and the report does close. However it leaves the Impromptu session running and more importantly the catalog open. I would have preferred to be able to close it completely.

i found the only solution was Macros. Then setting up Batch files if you have many Macro's

Thanks for your comments, but I'm afraid they've only confirmed my suspicions.

previous to this i had never touched VB or any real scripting launguage. I used the Help files and examples which were very helpful.
