Hi,

I am running a .bat file through task scheduler on a Win 2003 server. Similar batch files are run on other win2k and 2003 servers with no problem.

This one is failing with the follwing log:

"Daily Backup.job" (Backup.bat)
Started 04/04/2006 19:00:00
"Daily Backup.job" (Backup.bat)
Finished 04/04/2006 19:00:00
Result: The task completed with an exit code of (80).

Has anyone got an idea of how to fix? All the obvious permissions etc are correct?

Thanks in advance!

There is a hotfix for MSScheduler, to get around it, Press Start, Run, type Services.msc to give you the services list. Find hte Human Interface Device Input Service, and stop it. This should sort it temporarily, but contact microsoft for the fix.

Excellent - thanks. Thing is, I had already checked the human Interface Device Access service and it is disabled.

I will have to contact MS I guess...........

There is another option, not tried it myself, but give it a try,

1. Copy / Paste the following to a HidServ.reg file:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidServ]
"Start"=dword:00000004

2. Merge the HidServ.reg file with your registry, or run regedit /s HidServ.reg.

3. Restart

Hi Neil,

I have made a couple of other changes and have applied all hotfixes - seems to run at the moment ut cannot let task go very far as will take up too much bandwidth. I am plabbing to let it run tonight and see the results. If still haveing problems I will use your post. Thanks very much for taking the time to post.
