Currently, I have a report scheduled to run several times a day with excel as its output format. I must have the "lite" version of Enterprise so I can't tell Crystal to email the report or save it somewhere. But what I did notice is that the excel file generated is being saved in randomly named "output" directory on the Server. There are literally more than a hundred of these directories where scheduled files are saved until their history is removed. So, my question is: Is there anyway to tell Crystal Enterprise where to save the scheduled output file. I am currently using a VB program to find the randomly saved; randomly place excel file (it looks something like this \A1212\~ce2323232323.xls) . Once the file is found, it is renamed and moved to another folder. I'd really like to be able to just have a single folder that the scheduled files will be saved to. It would make things so much easier. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Email works in CE 10, And you can specify an output directory as well. Perhaps you haven't enabled the SMTP on the CE server?

Crystal manages it's own files using the Filestore, and I suggest that you not try altering it.

If you are using Crystal Enterprise 10 Professional or Enterprise then you have the ability to save the file to an unmanaged disk (UNC or file share), FTP, or via email.

However, the options are disabled by default. You need to logon to the admin console and enable them for the job servers. Each job server you use needs to have the options enabled.

synapsevampire is right in that you should NOT modify the name of the randomly generated file in any way. This is for internal use only.

With CE 10 Pro or Premium you CAN save to a folder.

GDARINO,
Your post makes perfect sense! However, I have been been all through the options in the Crystal Management Console and can't find anything to enable the options for file desination. The tab for "Destinations" is grayed out for all job servers and don't see any way of enabling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What version Enterprise are you using?
CE 10 Professional, CE 10 Premium, XI Pro, XI Premium, etc.

This would help to troubleshoot.

The only place that gives me an indication of the version is the header the User Launchpad page that says "Crystal Enterprise 10 Express." Although, I know we purchased this combo deal "Crystal Enterprise Professional 10" that came with several copies of the Designer.

If you have Crystal Enterprise Express than you will most likely need to install Pro. I am not sure if you will be required to uninstall Express before upgrading to Pro or if the Pro license key will unlock Express to Pro. I tested Express and Premium on separate lab boxes and only installed Premium in production when we purchased the licenses. Logon to the management console and the license manager should tell you what licenses you have such as Pro, Premium, etc.

GDARINO,
Guess what, I just logged into my Businessobject profile and now there is a "CR10 Pro Full Prod" download. It wasn't there last summer. I had downloaded the "CE 10 Express" thinking that was the right version. Not sure what happened, but now I think I will be able to make things work. I'll probably un-install the express and start over to make things simple. Thanks for all the advise :)

One last question? Did you purchase the maintenance agreement? If so, you are elegible for the BOBJ XI R1 or R2 upgrade. If you are starting from scratch I strongly urge you to consider the benefits of the upgrade in your envoronment to see if it is worth the effort. I upgraded from CE 10 to XI rather quickly. I am testing XI R2 in the lab now. There are many useful improvements.
