Scheduled instances date format

The date format for scheduled instances is showing as mm/dd/yyyy, where the regional settings are set to dd/mm/yyyy and English(Aust). This occurs on Win98 clients, not Win2000. We have modified the registry on the Win98 machine to reflect the Win2000 client without success.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
