I have a report that through the CMC I set the format to be tab separated values. The report runs successfully, but the output of the report is "invalid". Essentially all formating of columns is lost and the column headers, and page footers show up on every record.

When the report is exported to the same format through CR9, everything is as expected. I would expect the same output from the scheduled instance through CE9.

I have followed Crystal's KB c2006981 and still have the same "invalid" result. I do have a ticket open with support, but am hoping someone else has run into this and can provide a quicker response.

I have a deadline of this week to get the report working.

Thanks
Brian Thomas

Brian,

I don't know if this would help, but I found the following in the Service Patch 2 for CR 9 documentation.

ADAPT00092193 Patch ID: 34928741

Description:
When you schedule a report to Microsoft Excel format through ePortfolio, or through a viewer, the resulting spreadsheet maintains the page headers and footers. As a result, the data in the spreadsheet appears to be separated by headers and footers. Headers and footers are included by default during the export of the report.

New Behavior:
An additional option has been added to enable headers and footers to be turned off when exporting reports to Microsoft Excel. For Windows, a registry subkey has been added to turn this functionality on and off. The subkey is HKCU\Software\Crystal Decisions\9.0\Crystal Reports\Export\crxf_xls\ExportPageHeaderFooter. The default value is "Yes". Changing this value to "No" will disable the page headers and footers from the Excel export.

MColeman,

Thanks for the response. While this is very helpful info, the format of the report issue is tab-separated values. This format is its own selection and is different than excel. While having said that though, with CE you never know, so I am going to use your advice and see if it makes a difference for tab-separated. Thanks for the reply as I truly appreciate the advice.

I will reply again with results.

Brian,

I found another one...

Adapt00145033 patchid: 35308234

But, this one has to do with fixing data alignment in tab or CSV files in Excel export.

Hey, keep me posted. I'm really interested in your outcome.

Good Luck!

Wanted to post the results of this issue.

Turns out, that CR9 tab seperated text (ttx format) & CE9 tab seperated values (tsv format) are not one in the same. Originally I was under the impression that the CE9 pull down menu was a typo. Unfortanetly this is not the case, they are 2 different export formats. This was listed in Crystal's internal tracking. I was told this is not available on their support page's knowledge base.
This issue is listed as a possible enhancement, guess we'll see if it is CE10.
