I am using ARcServe V6.5 on a windows Nt4.0 server. We had a power outage and somehow the server went down. I don't know how because i had a UPS hooked up. I am a student and this is my first job at a small library and so any help would be appreciated. When i came back to work and saw that the server was down I started it back up and rescheduled the backup and now it says that it is incomplete. sorry if i didn't give enough information. thanks for any suggestions though

Hi there,

The backup job says incomplete probably for a couple of different reasons depending on your environment. Usually, if Arcserve cannot backup a file or file(s) that are open (in use) at the time you will see the job indicating it was incomplete.

If your backup did not complete the current server it was working on it may also indicate it was incomplete.

You should check the details of the job itself (bottom of the screen in the Arcserve Manager - job details tab) and see what servers were backed up / etc. You can then make arrangements to rerun the backups that you missed, or, just re-run the entire backup again.

As for the UPS / server shutting down - it depends on how long your power was out for and how much standby time your server has. Most UPS units will have a software package that runs on the server and will gracefully shut it down when battery power is down to 5 minutes remaining.

Let me know if I can help further.

Thanks,
