Hi, our Veritas Backup Exec has run successfully for a month. Each night at 23.59 hours it backs up approx 13,391,742,902 and takes approx 8-9 hours to complete. The past week it has started the back-up as scheduled at 23.59 appears to have backed-up everything however instead of showing as completed as usual it still shows as Active Loading Media the elapsed time has been up to 86 hours, the tape is not making any noise to make me think it is still backing up and the amount it has backed up doesn't increase from approx 13,391,742,902. I have to cancel the active job and then it schedules again for 23.59. I have used 5 different tapes which have all been fine so I don't think it can be to do with teh tapes. Any ideas on why it has started doing this and how I rectify it. Thanks, Net.

Hi,

Are you able to get an inventory to work? If not try below.

You could try deleting the drive and
To delete the drive:
go to Devices (in Backup Exec application)
right click your drive, configuration - uncheck enable. -ok
right click your device again and delete.
exit Backup Exec app, stop the BE services and restart the BE services and it should re-appear, test then.

let me know if you still need help.

we are having the exact problem and get the message

" the media provided to continue the backup already contains data from one or more sets created during this operation. the operation can not continue.."

We also want to perform a "VERIFY", but this operation does not take place due to the stoppage noted above.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
