How should I do if I want to schedule a weekend firmware upgrade for every M3900 phone we have in the PBX, and how much time will it possibly take, given the fact we have about 2000 digital phones ?

I read the following tip in another thread, but I'm not sure how I should apply this :

LD 97
Req: Chg
Type FDL
FDTP (none, 3902, 3903, 3904, 3905, or ALL)
FDTM Yes
FDAY d n (d = 0-6 for day of week, Sunday = 0, Saturday = 6)
(n = 0-4 - number of time intervals where 0 = no download for that day)
FINT s l (starting hour and length for a time interval. Prompted n times if n>0)
(s = 0-23 - Start hour in 24 hour format)
(l = 1-24 - Length of interval in hours)

The part I'm not sure about is the "time intervals" part. So if I have 2000 phone to upgrade, how should I set up the weekend schedule ?

Thanks !

1 to 2 cards at a time over a period of time would be the ticket. 10-15 minutes a dwnld!
if I had supl 4 I would:
chg
fdl
3905
yes
6 1 (sat 1 interval)
1 6 (1am 6 hours)
FNTR - yes
FSTN - 4 0 0 0
FETN - 4 0 1 15 (2 cards in order0
FDNR no
FRCE - no
FVER <enter>

ld 32
.fdls <enter>

Ok I kept on looking for information on firmware upgrade on this forum and found this : FAQ798-6394: Scheduled download

So that answers my question quite well, but I'd still like to know if someone has a clue as to how much time it should take to upgrade 2000 M3900 phones ?

Thanks again

bigindian65,

Thank you, I'll give that a try !

go to ld 32 and run FSUM, this will give you an indications of how many phones needs to be done. takes 10-15 min per phone...

not all phone will need to be downloaded if you set frce to no in ld 97, only phones with older fw will get updated and you should be able to see that from the fsum command in ld 32

You can do more than 1 phone at a time though.
