I was wondering how to setup a schedule for automatic backups on the Octel Aria. I heard there was a script for this. I am not sure how to implement or execute this. Can anyone help?
you should be ablr to set this up in procomm by recording the action and then saving it to a script in procomm and then you just tell it to run on a day and time. you will need to get somthing to change the date of the backup i will look around and see what i can find
I have found a unit that not only will run backups but will give you IP into the octel instead of having to call into the modem it also is a remote monitor unit. the cost of it may be high but it works with all 250 and 350 systems.
We don’t usually sell the unit but include it in the service package
But it would cost about 4500.00
The Tel-IS Pro (SP) is designed to actively monitor an Octel 250 or 350. The primary function of the SP is to log on to the Octel and poll the Status Log. There are inputs to monitor the cabinet alarms from the Octel. There is also a LAN connection for both alarm information output and access to the Octel for administration. In an Octel 250 the Tel-IS Pro replaces the RDAC modem and is transparent to users. In an Octel 350, it connects to J50 or one of the Flex Ports and acts as a transparent modem if another user shares the port.
The SP polls the Status Log every 30 minutes. The log is filtered to determine if there are new entries since the last poll. If there are new entries they are examined to determine how they will be handled. The entries are checked against a list of up to 100 predefined entries for proper action. If an entry is not found on the list, there is a default action. The actions defined include distribution to any combination of up to 4 email addresses, 4 pager numbers, and 4 modems. It is also possible to ignore an entry and take no action.
There are 8 inputs for dry contact alarms. The first two are preassigned to the Octel for the Out of Service (OOS) and Service Affecting (SA) alarms. That leaves 6 that can be defined as normally open or normally closed alarm points for environmental or other equipment such as a PBX or other communications equipment. Indications from all 8 alarm points are directed to any combination of the same distribution destinations as the entries from the status log.
The LAN connection can be used to send email messages for the alarms and events. The LAN connection can also be used to telnet into either the Tel-IS Pro or the Octel, depending on the specified I/P port. The Octel port can be used for all System Administration and MAC functions. The Tel-IS Pro port can be used to modify the alarm parameters on the Tel-IS Pro.
Macros can also be setup to change the time for daylight savings and other tasks
