I'm not sure if this is possible and thought I would throw it out there for thoughts or ideas.
I have a Excel 2003 spreadsheet that using MS-Query which picks up various stats and data from a Informix IDS9 DB (Running on Sco Unix) with a limited ODBC connector.
In the spreadsheet I have various calculations to format the data in to a useable form for people to view / use.
The Spreadsheet is now well over 7mb and is only going to grow bigger! I was thinking about using crystal reports to interrogate the spreadsheet and deploy my reports. Making file distribution smaller and a little more 'pretty' for my users!
My main problem is getting the Data in to the spreadsheet twice a day! I can always open the file run the data updates and close the file but it needs to happen whether I'm there or not.
I'm rubbish with Databases and have no budget to contract someone to do this so I'm sad to say its up to me with my excel skills!
Any Ideas? Could this be done in 2003 or does something in 2007 do this (I may be able to swing an office upgrade!)
Thanks in advance.
