Does anyone have experience dealing with Slowly Changing Dimensions Type II in MSTR ?

What is your personal experience ? How you manage to show SCD in MSTR ?

The logic for handling SCDs (with a type 2 response) is executed in the database but you should be able to display different versions of a record in MicroStrategy, if that is what you're asking.

Let me give you an example. Lets say you've got a store in your retail chain, and its name is "New York Store". Now, you might change the actual address but still refer to that store as "New York Store." I think this might be an example of where you could do SCD type 2. What would happen is on the database side, you just generate a new record with a new surrogate key for that store, keeping the same store name, but changing the store address in the new record. The old record would have the same store name, but different address, and different surrogate key.

In MicroStrategy, if you prompt for a user to enter a store description, or filter by using an attribute qualification on the store description, e.g. "New York Store" you would get two records back on your report. Does that make sense or help?
