Going on SCCS upgrade from rel. 4.2. to rel. 5:
I would like to know if there is Symposium server rel.5 and client version 4.00 (Build 04.01.07) Rev 6 compatibility. Can it work together ?
if you are going to do this then you should also be getting the client update software as well. there are a few things that won't work unless you have this.
Most notabily the password expiry in the user data and there are a couple of reports that won't work..
It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.
Rev 6 Client is shipped with the 5.0 server software. It will work with 4.0, 4.2 and 5.0 systems. Likewise, Rev 5 will work with 5.0.
There is a new SU12C patch out. It can be tricky to load b/c it requires the G015C patch to be loaded first. When you first load it, it uninstalls any SU patch currently loaded and also uninstalls G015C patch. Then you're supposed to reinstall G015C so you can install SU12C. What happened to me on one system was that every time I tried to install SU12C it uninstalled G015C again, and kept telling me it wouldn't load without G015C. Very frustrating.
It would be really advantage not to be forced to install 20+ Clients at night immediately after server 4.2 to 5.0 upgrade.
It’s much better to have cup of days for such frustrating job.
We're not going to even bother upgrading our users' clients unless they have a problem. There really isn't anything new in the Rev 6 client.
One word of caution - after the upgrade users will not be able to run Agent by Skillset or Agent by Application reports. There are a couple of ways to fix it:
1. Delete and recreate the users desktop account
2. Make a change to a access class, then change it back.
3. Load patches G16, G17, and G18
