Hi- this is sort of a re-post as my posting last time seemed to be unsuccessful. Not alot of knowledge on this topic. Some of these questions relate to PBX and also posted in that forum.

Question 1- how often are calls IDs re-used? Is it based on NCR parameter in PBX?

Question 2- What parm in PBX is configure to let PBX know which range of IDs to use? In PBX I am looking at, IDs always start with 441.

Question 3- Call ID when tracing in PBX is a different than call ID in SCCS. Below- top printout shows enhanced trace on phone for a skillset call. Bottom record shows SCCS call by call report. PBX shows call ID of 441 3343 and SCCS shows 71,372,047 for same call. Is it doing a hex - decimal conversion perhaps?

Any help on any of these questions would be awesome. Thanks as always.

As far as I know, the SCCS gets the call ID from the switch. It does repeat. On busy systems, it can repeat more than once a day. Someone with more switch experience will have to answer if the call ID can be configured or not (but I believe it cannot).
 
Thanks for the input. I was able to figure this out in our lab.

The HLOC parameter will determine first digits of the call ID assigned by the PBX. In my case, 441. So all call IDs start with 441.

Secondly, the amount of unique call IDs is determined by the NCR parameter. For testing, I lowered this parameter to 80. First call was assigned ID 441 79, 2nd call 441 78, 3rd call 441 77..... 80th call 441 1. Not sure why it counts backwards, but it does. 81st call was assigned 441 79 (same as 1st call). So 80 unique IDs before repeating. I then changed the NCR paramter back to 20000. After the change, 1st call was assigned ID 441 19999, 2nd call 441 19998, 3rd call 441 99997.... No- I didn't call 20000 times. The 20000th call would have been 441 1. The 20001st call would then repeat going back to 441 19999. Oh yeah- NCR changes require an INI to activate.

Lastly- the mapping between PBX call ID and SCCS ID. In my case, the call ID in PBX is 441 3343. The same call in SCCS has call ID of 71,372,047. If you convert the 71372047 SCCS ID from decimal to hex you get 4410D0F. The first 3 digits after converting = first 3 digits of PBX call ID (441). Now take the last 4 hex characters (0D0F) and convert from hex to decimal and you get 3343 or the last 4 digits of the PBX call ID.

I've been trying to figure this out for so long and finally I have answers. Sweet.
