We have 2 dedicated MerMail ports for Access ports to SCCS. For the second time in 5 or 6 months the ports have stopped working. Have stopped VSM services in SCCS. Have disable/reenable port in MerMail. Only way to get ports back is to reboot MerMail.

Any thoughts?

Sounds about par for the course with SCCS and Mermail. Two ports is really not enough for my taste. When you are recording an announcement, one port is used up leaving only one available. I always recommend 4 as the minimum.

Anyways, if anything upsets the synchronization, you can try to stop/start VSM, but as you have found out, the only tried and true resolution is the reboot routine (Mermail, then SCCS).

False alarm this time. Goes to show you, you can not always blame technology. Rebooted MerMail and still would not acquire ports. Start/Stop VSM service, still will not acquire. Boot MerMail again. Still no!

Finally go behind the server rack in the computer room only to find that that DB25 connecter to the short haul modem is unplugged. We use 2 short haul modems to get the ports from switchroom to computer room. Connect back up and viola, ports are working! Lack of connectivity will do it every time.

Thanx for the help.
