Hi there we have a bunch of duplicate hostnames in many reverse lookup entries in our DNS.
we have flat AD inegrated dns structure with about 60 reverse lookup zones that are all /24. there are 6 domain controllers in various countries around the world.
we have not enabled scavenging anywhere yet. I want to enable it but have a few concerns and questions.
(1) Does it need to be enabled on the one forward lookup zone only, or do I need to enable it on reverse zones also?
(2) if you enable it at the server level does it enable it on the forward zone and all reverse zones? if so why is there a tick-box for each zone - if enabling it at server level does this anyway - and enabling on a zone only without at the server level is off?
(3) does it need to be enabled on all DC's that use DNS in the domain? or just one. to the delted get replicated? or do the duplicate entries get replicated by DC's without scavenging?
