Scanning Setup for Sharp AR-507

i was following the manual for setting up the scanner on the sharp ar-507, but the copier keeps giving me an error that "scanning is not enabled" or "digital scanner not installed". Can anybody help me out? we where assured that we could scan from the printer.

Scanning on Sharp copiers is an option that must be enabled.
Have you verified from your vendor (or by checking some status info on the copier) that network scanning is indeed enabled.
