I got two scanners (Toshiba estudio 351c to be exact (all in one business machine)). My question is can i hook both of them up to one machine and have then scan at the same time to two different locations

'scan at the same time to two different locations'?

que? shouldn't be a problem having 2 scanners - but you normally choose a location to save AFTER the image is scanned. So shouldn't be a problem. But most people would have already tried this by now rather than asking - so have you tried and have had a problem?

btw - why in earth do you need to scan from 2 devices at the same time from one computer?

cause it is a file server comp but each scanner is for a different department. and i am unsure of the software that comes with it that is y i am asking in advanced

So are you asking if the scanners can be connected to one machine (the file server), but operated remotely from client machines? (is that what 2 different locations means?)

Remote use of scanners isn't really supported in XP (they can't be shared) - though you could do it using remote desktop (and I think some provide software to allow 'sharing'). But of course the nature of a scanner means it needs something to scan - so somebody has to load the to be scanned document (ie, not easy remotely, unless remote machines are in fact near the file server). Can't see any problem using 2 scanners at once other than usual drain on resources - scanners can be quite heavy that way.

Why not connect the scanners to separate machines - they can still be shared as effectively (or not) as connected to file server, and you can have them in 2 different locations.

no one scanner will be scanning to a folder which is one department the other scanner will be scanning tothe other folder ( i.e. scanner 1 will scan to the Meat dept folder scanner 2 will scan to the bakery folder)
