scanners - red color

i have 2 scanners on 2 different PCs
after scanning on both I am getting files with too much red (magenta) in it
is that because of old lamps on these scanners?

Are the glasses clean? Don't laugh, on many scanner you can see a sort of fume that has deposited from the inside of the scanner. Is it an anti-glare coating? or deposition from the volatile solvents used while building the scanner.
