Hello
I have a Brother MFC5440CN printer/scanner/fax it is USB, not shared nor is the system networked to another computer .
Brother has a new driver for it, BUT just for the printer portion, the fax isnt a issues as it works without the OS, but id like to have the scanner.

I contaced Brother and asked them if there was a different driver, "Currently there is no scanner driver available for the W2003 Server ".

Is there perhaps a generic driver or to trick XP driver to work or some other way to get it to work?

thanks in advance

Tuco

If you have Windows XP drivers, it should work in most cases. I have tried this in my environment and found most of the XP drivers work with Windows Server 2003. Infact if you have WDM drivers (you could see a folder in this name in the drivers CD), they should work with Windows Server 2003.

I tried to get it to take the XP driver but it wont accept it.
It looks like Brother removed the printer portion from, the XP driver just to get the printer to work but when you try to install the whole XP driver you get wrong OS prompt.
There has to be a way to trick it to accept the XP drivers.

BTW this printer scanner has been used in W2k and XP without any issues with drivers

kmkeshav thanks for your responce !!!!
