Scanner not detected

i have a HP psc 1315v all-in-one printer, scanner, copier. It prints fine. But i cant scan anything. It pops up a message like: Scanner is not detected, or scanning software could not be found. I have uninstalled the software numerous times, then reinstalled and yet it still doesnt scan. I have no clue what to do.

Any help would be great, thanks

Has this system ever had any other scanners attached to it?

yes, i have scanned something before. i have had trouble with the scanner for a long time. i guess the software doesnt work or something. i dont know. but yes, i have scanned something before with the scanner
