I have a number of LS2208 Symbol Scanners that change the case of the alphabet characters when Caps Lock is turned on.

The bar code has an alphanumeric code of B000123456789. With caps lock off that is how it shows up on the screen.

With caps lock on the upper case B becomes lower case. I have tried to program the case to convert all to upper case without success.
I then turned that setting off and enabled simulated caps lock. That too did not solve the problem.

I then turned that setting off and enabled caps lock override. This also failed.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem could be?

I can't say for certain what is happening, but I can offer some suggestions to try to narrow the focus of the search.

1. Have you tried 'reading' the barcode into something other than the application - into something more 'generic' like Notepad or Word?

If the problem disappears, then the application is the cause of the problem.
If the problem persists, then the application is exonerated.

2. Have you tried 'reading' the barcode on a different workstation?

If the problem disappears, then the original workstation's Caps Lock (keyboard controller) is the cause of the problem.
If the problem persists, then the individual workstation Caps Lock is exonerated.

Try some testing and see what you get.

Good Luck,

I have read the barcode into Notepad - problem persists.
I have also read the barcode into Notepad from a PC other than the one having the issue - problem persists.

This is a bummer! :)

Try to reset the scanner to factory default settings and try after that.If you have a special configuration you can save/view/edit configuration with 123scan software before you reset it what options you have checked in scanner.
One easy way to reset the scanner is to read a code from the pdf reference guide or from the printed leaflet shipped with scanner.

So your barcode read testing has exonerated the Application's Input functionality and the individual workstation's Caps Lock.

That's a good starting place.

The bar code has an alphanumeric code of B000123456789.

What barcode symbology are you attempting to read?
Code 3 of 9 (a.k.a. Code 39) ?
Something else?

Have you ensured that the barcode image(s) written onto paper is what you expect it to be?

To do so, have you written other barcodes using the same symbology (i.e. same barcode font) in a more 'generic' fashion - such as out of Notepad or Word?
And the results when you tried to read them back?

Also is this problem occurring across multiple (or all) of your barcode readers?

Good Luck,
JRB-Bldr
