I have just upgraded(???) to windows xp home edition though I don't think that is the problem. I have a fairly new hp officejet d135 which is one of the all in ones. I have scanned some color photos which have turned out fine. Just yesterday I have attempted to scan in a black and white photo from a book and I cannot make it come out right so that it is printable. Have saved it in just about every format that I can think of. I originally scanned this in using my old epson and had no problems whatsoever. But apparently HP does not seem to like the b/w stuff. Anyone iwth any suggestions? Hope I am posting to the right forum. Many thanks.

You might find help on HP's web site for that particular scanner model. They sometimes have a forum for certain models that might be of help, also. I used to have an HP-4200C and found out that most people in the 4200C forum were having the same problems I was. I finally gave up and bought a Visioneer. Yep, tried the hp site first...could't find a forum on there and nothing in their help area at all.

Actually I still have my old epson which did a fantastic job! Got the hp cuz I was running out of room!
