Scanner for NT 4 W/S

My sister gave me her old 32 bit scanner with parallel port. I have NT 4/sp6a WS in my PC. I tried to attach the scanner via printer to a parallel port and it would not recognize the scanner if I run the scanner’s software to install the driver. Is NT capable of running a scanner?

hi,
first you should check to see if your scanner is compatible with NT (search for NT HCL on the MS site).

as i understand from your post, you have connected the scanner through the printer, it should be vice versa ,(connect the printer to the scanner and the scanner to the parallel port of your PC.if this didn't work you should think of installing another parallel port (PCI card that you can buy and install it in your PC)
