I upgraded my Dell PC to Windows XP recently and installed the updates which included SP2. My HP OfficeJet R80XI Multifunction Printer/Scanner/Fax worked fine under Win2K Pro but I do not seem to be able to get the scanner function to work under XP. I contacted HP support and they indicated that the XP scanner function will provide the appropriate drivers for the device. When I try to use the hardware installer, it can not complete since it can not find the appropriate device drivers on the XP install CD nor on my PC.

Anyone have anyidea where you can get the .inf file and device drivers for the XP Scanner function?

try to uninstall the RX80i, then reinstall it. reboot after you uninstall & it should find the new hardware. just follow the prompts to install.

I did that and the installer finishes the printer function just fine. When it trys to install the scanner, the XP installer comes to the ned and says that the device did not complete installation due to the software not being found. When I try to find the device drivers & .inf files, HP says that they atr the standard TWAIN drivers included in Windows XP. If so, where are they and why doesn't the XP installer find them. I let it look on the PC, the CD, and even unzipped the .CAB files on the CD under the I386 folder, but still no files. If I had some idea of the file name that would help, but the installer does not provide that info.

HI there, you said that you had the W2k drivers? try these...

w2k = OS5.0 and XP = OS5.1

Most drivers built for w2k will also function for XP...

You may have to pinpoint the Hardware Manager directly to the driver...

If it works don't fix it! If it doesn't use a sledgehammer...
