I have an old Printer that was lying around and decided to sell it to my neighbour. The scanner works fine on my computer but is not found on hers. we are both running Win 2000 SP 4 the only difference is she has a printer. It is plugged into the usb and the scanner is a serial port. i think that the system wont see the scanner because it is in the serial (printer port) and there is a printer installed. but the printer is installed into the usb. is there a possibility that the printer is using the COM1 port to print instead of the USB1 port? how can i change this so the scanner is seen on the serial port?

Thanks in advance.

You are getting your ports mixed up. You have a printer, so where does the scanner come in serial is not the printer port unless you have a serial printer (not common these days). You should have drivers for the printer you are installing. Let's have some more info, like the printer model, computer model, and what configuration both computers have. Thanks.
