I am using CR 10

I have a 2 parameters (signature1, Signature 2)which are dropdown list of names which I bring into a letter

Ideally I would like the picked name to display a signature - some sort of scanned object. can this be done and where would i store the object?

thanks in anticipation!

One way (if there aren't that many signatures involved) would be to add the scanned signatures as objects in separate report sections that are then conditionlly suppressed with the parameters.

Mmmm yes I have about 6 signatories, that would work in theory. But I have 2 issues with it:

1. presentational - should realy be on one lin ie

The object would appear above the dotted line ie parameter selected

2. I would have to maintain each letter type if name changed although I suppose we have to do that anyway in the parameter selection dropdown list - ideally these should be in a central repository

Any more ideas??? I would think this is a common issue in letter design dont you think?

I'm not clear on the issue. Are you concerned about being able to dynamically bring in the signatures? Do they change often?

You can place signatures in separate sections and then format the sections to "underlay following sections" to align them.

Your 2nd point on underlaying following sections I have never done before so i will try this solution

Your first point is, these are bank account mandate signatures, they dont change that often but are on lots of letter types. I was hoping to store the signatory objects in one place and then reference them via the parameters in each letter. We need to keep crystal mainenance to a minimum. Hope this makes sense?

I think someone else could probably help you more than I on this point. You could try referencing them as OLE objects, which I believe are updated when the file is changed (if you changed the signature stored there). Or if you are using BO Enterprise, you could maybe make use of the repository.

I will try OLE solution and store them where we put the crsyatl reports - fingers crossed!

thanks again LB
