Scan to a shared folder

With our printer we can scan a document as a PDF file to a shared folder. We use an old standalone PC for this.
Now we like to use our 2003 server for this. I created a shared folder, but I can not get this working. The printer told me failed to connect, check destination path.
If I changed the login username or password the printer is using to an invalid one the printer logfile tells me failed to logon, so it went out to the server.
I can map to this folder from every PC without any problem, but the printer cannot. Is there any difference between a standalone PC and the server to save to a shared folder?
Any ideas are welcome.

This isnt a Xerox printer is it? Just asking because our xerox scans to PDF, but it uses IIS off the server

This is a Toshiba e-Studio350. We scan to PDF using SMB protocol. Like \\server\sharedfolder It works fine to the old PC running WinXP, but not to the 2003 server.
Any ideas are welcome, because I'm running out.

xwire above mentioned using IIS how did you do that?
Than I can try it that way.

Hi, on our Xerox, it uses the IIS to login and get the templates it needs to scan. For example, it will get a jpeg, tiff, or pdf template on which ever the user selects on the screen. I think it just uses IIS to login to the server for that resource.

On your folder that you are sharing, is the security permissions on the folder set correctly? I dont mean the settings on the actual share, but the folder itself. I had some issues with that when I went to 2003 also. Actually it probably had nothing to do with 2003 but I just forgot to check those settings.

My guess is that the printer is using the old lanman style connection, and that kind of login is being denied.
