Scan stopped by user - NOT

I am unable to run my Symantec Antivirus scan since May 14. A window opens that says it was stopped by the user but I have not stopped the scan. Is it safe to reboot? What recommendations do you have?

See attached file for a copy of the stopped message I am getting.
 
its safe to reboot. the scan will resume once windows starts back up.

If this is a recurring issue then you might have a corrupt av and you will have to repair it.

Also i have seen this when a virus infects the client it breaks some of the files making the av unusable
