Hi.. A few days ago I asked if I had an autocad file, could I count windows and doors and square footage. The answer was yes. Thats cool. Now... the only crappy problem is that I only have the printed plans. Can I scan the plans into Autocad and have Autocad convert it to a editable, countable, file???

Thanks

Do a search of the forum. It's probably the most common question here!

The short answer is yes - but, to count windows, doors etc., the scanning software will have to convert these to the blocks you were trying count. Move scan packages at best just going to convert the scanned bitmap to line entities, so you'll have some work to do. A decent raster to vector program I've used is WinTopo, you can find them at
