scan new luns

Hi,
a rh as 3 server has been assigned a new lun (ibm fastt).
how can I see these new luns in order to create new partitions and fs on it?
I know there's a command iscsi-rescan, is this the right tool?
I haven't it on the system so I'm download package iscsi-initiator-utils.
Am I doing the right thing?
