SBT Series 5.0i - "Select Initial Application.."

When users log in and attempt to go to the payroll module they see a dialog box that says:

Startup program PR.PRG/FXP is missing. Please check the installation in the system manager before proceeding.

I manage most of our systems but this one is not one that I have any experience on. It seems to me that it's missing a file some how, i'm just not sure what it is exactly or how I got about fixing that problem.

Is this something that can be recreated some how? Or somewhere I can look in the application to find out where it might of existed initially?

I'd REALLY appreciate any help!

Hi tndinnc,

Someone deleted the file PR.FXP, whether accidentaly or on purpose but the point is, it is gone.

There are two ways you can have PR module back:

1. Restore it from a backup that you probably have somewhere. The most recent backup is better.

or

2. Compile the program PR.PRG that should be in PR folder.

We don't have a backup because the application is on an old windows NT box that we haven't been able to backup with out normal backup tools. How do I compile the PR.PRG? I have never had to do anything like this before.

Here is what you should do:

1. Open Windows explorer and run a search to find PR.PRG

Once you find it...

2. Open VFP

3. Go to that folder to compile it.

Let's suppose it is in the folder R:\PRO50\PR

In VFP, type down as follow:

3.1. set defa to r:\pro50\pr
3.2. compile pr

You're done!


I'll cross my fingers you find it.

Have you checked that you have the PR.PRG? This could be a path issue, too. That message just means that the file isn't being found.

I can't find the pr.prg what do i do now?

Try to find PR.FXP that is PR.PRG compiled program.

If you do not find it either, there is not fix your problem.

I'm sure it should be somewhere, you will make it.

Do you have VFP 5.0?

Do you have SBT 5.01 original disks?

Are you registered with SBT/Sage?

Do you have a PR subdirectory to you SBT PRO route directory?

How many files do you have that come up for the call dir PR*.prg?

How many files do you have that come up for the call dir PR*.fxp?

What does sysdata say about the location of the PR files in the Drive field? - If you don't know how to read this send me a copy of the file at SBTBILL@AOL.COM.

The usual way that sbt runs the submodule programs are each in their own directory. Some people put everything in one. That usually makes for a maintenance mess.
