Client has SBT 5.0i running on (now) on a Windows 2003 Server. About a month ago users would encounter a window telling them the 10 user license has been exceeded. The client purchased a 25 user license way back in 1999 or so.

Their IT guy has been upgrading user machines and reinstalling the SBT client on them. Also SBT was moved from an NT 4.0 server to the Windows 2003 server about 4-6 months ago. These are the only things I can think of that have changed.

I'm searching source code to see if I can track down what is going on.

Any ideas, O great SBT gods?

CORRECTIONS:

SBT is on a Windows 2000 Server, not 2003. It's been there for a couple of years.

The Client installed a Citrix Server a couple of months ago and users have been running the SBT client via a Citrix session as well as directly from the LAN.

Could the install of a single SBT client on the Citrix server used by many concurrent sessions cause SBT to bark about user licenses?

OF course !!!.

SBT counts how many users are logged in SBT. Each user using the SBT program is considered a license.

IF you have less than or 26 concurrent users as you indicate, re-enter the purchased user license paccode provided by your SBT reseller.

Thanks for the reply, but that wasn't what I meant. I understand that the count of users logged in is what SBT is comparing against the licensed user count.

The client just reentered the activation key for what they say is on the invoice for 10-20 users. SBT took it and says that the max user count is now 5!

I'm having them scan the invoice and send it to me.

I'll report back what I find....

SM showed only 1 user in SBT when the W2K showed 4 people with many SBT files open. After we really got the other users out of the system and entered the serial number and user license code again the user count is back to 20.

Thanks, Edgar.

BTW, what options does my client have for SBT upgrading? Has ACCPAC destroyed the thing that made SBT great, namely source code and a healthy VAR network?

You can upgrade and continue to get source code. The VAR network has shrunk but still exists. The current edition is owned by SAGE. For pricing contact me at SBTBILL@AOL.com
